Cartels & Social
Cartels are player-formed organizations that let you team up with allies, communicate privately, and compete on leaderboards. They’re the social backbone of multiplayer politics in Planets TEOS.
What Are Cartels?
A cartel is a group of up to 10 players who band together for mutual benefit. Cartel members can:
- Send private messages to the group
- Coordinate strategies
- Compete together on the cartel leaderboard
Creating a Cartel
Requirements:
- You must belong to a faction (Alliance or Maraken)
- Cartel names can be up to 20 characters long
Once created, you become the cartel leader and can invite other players to join.
Inviting Members
Cartel members can send invitations to other players. Invited players receive the invitation and can choose to accept or decline.
Membership cap: Each cartel can have a maximum of 10 members.
Cartel Messaging
Cartels have a private messaging system for coordinating with allies:
- Maximum message length: 200 characters
- Messages are displayed 15 per page
- Only cartel members can see messages
Use cartel messaging to coordinate attacks, share trade route intel, or plan conquest strategies.
Leaderboards
Planets TEOS has two competitive leaderboards:
Individual Leaderboard
The top 20 players ranked by net worth. See who’s dominating the galaxy.
Cartel Leaderboard
The top 10 cartels ranked by combined member net worth. This is where organized groups compete for supremacy.
Net Worth Calculation
Your net worth is the total value of everything you own:
| Component | Formula |
|---|---|
| Credits on-hand | Direct value |
| Bank balance | Direct value |
| Loan balance | Subtracted |
| Ship value | Ship purchase cost |
| Fighter drones | Count x $199 (base price) |
| Shield batteries | Count x $114 (base price) |
| Torpedoes | Count x $5,000 |
| Cargo upgrades | Count x $8,450 (Big Cargo Space cost) |
| Reactor upgrades | Count x $100,000 (Reactor Unit cost) |
| Cargo value | Items in hold at base prices |
| Owned planets | Treasury balance + (defense fighters x $199) |
Net worth is recalculated at midnight reset for all players. The minimum net worth is $0 — it cannot go negative.
Cartel Strategy Tips
- Diversify your cartel. Having both combat-focused and trade-focused players creates a stronger overall team.
- Coordinate planet conquest. Taking and holding territory is easier with allies watching your back.
- Share trade route intel. Let your cartel know about profitable routes you discover.
- Time your attacks. Use cartel messaging to coordinate simultaneous strikes on rivals.
- Pool net worth. The cartel leaderboard rewards combined wealth — everyone’s success counts.
